Methods and apparatuses relating to power delay profiles

An apparatus comprising at least one processor and at least one memory storing instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the apparatus at least to:

• receive, from a network node, information indicative of a power granularity at which power measurements of power delay profiles shall be reported;
• determine a power delay profile (PDP) based on measurements of a reference signal;
• determine, for a plurality of time delay bins associated with the determined PDP, indices indicative of quantized power measurements for the respective time delay bins, wherein the indices are determined based on (i) power measurements determined for the respective time delay bins based on the determined PDP, (ii) the information indicative of the power granularity, and (iii) a pre-defined rule for determining the indices;
• and
• send, to the network node, the indices determined for the plurality of time delay bins.

An apparatus comprising at least one processor and at least one memory storing instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the apparatus at least to:

• provide, for provision to a terminal device, information indicative of a power granularity at which the terminal device shall report power measurements of power delay profiles;
• receive a quantized power delay profile (PDP) determined by the terminal device using the information indicative of the power granularity, and based on measurements of a reference signal, the quantized PDP comprising respective indices for a plurality of time delay bins, the respective indices being indicative of quantized power measurements for the time delay bins;
• and
• determine a location of the terminal device based on the quantized PDP.

A method comprising, by a terminal device:

• receiving, from a network node, information indicative of a power granularity at which power measurements of power delay profiles shall be reported;
• determining a power delay profile (PDP) based on measurements of a reference signal;
• determining, for a plurality of time delay bins associated with the determined PDP, indices indicative of quantized power measurements for the respective time delay bins, wherein the indices are determined based on (i) power measurements determined for the respective time delay bins based on the determined PDP, (ii) the information indicative of the power granularity, and (iii) a pre-defined rule for determining the indices;
• and
• sending, to the network node, the indices determined for the plurality of time delay bins.
