Multi-wavelength tunable laser

A laser system, comprising:

• a gain chip, within a cavity of the laser system, configured to emit a light beam;
• a tunable wavelength selection component, within the cavity, configured to filter the light beam into a first plurality of tunable transmission channels separated by a free spectral range;
• and
• a bandpass component, within the cavity, configured to define a spectral bandpass that enables a second plurality of tunable transmission channels that form a multi-channel light beam for output from the cavity, wherein the second plurality of tunable transmission channels is a subset of the first plurality of tunable transmission channels that falls within the spectral bandpass.

An external-cavity laser, comprising:

• a gain chip, within a cavity of the external-cavity laser, configured to emit a light beam;
• a tunable wavelength selection component, within the cavity, configured to filter the light beam into a first plurality of tunable transmission channels separated by a free spectral range;
• and
• a bandpass component, within the cavity, configured to define a spectral bandpass that enables a second plurality of tunable transmission channels that form a multi-channel light beam for output from the cavity, wherein the second plurality of tunable transmission channels is a subset of the first plurality of tunable transmission channels that falls within the spectral bandpass.
