Abstract
According to certain embodiments, a colliding pulse mode-locked (CPM) laser is provided. The CPPM laser includes an optical cavity including at least two gain sections. A saturable absorber is disposed between adjacent gain sections of the at least two gain sections. A first gain section of the at least two gain sections and a second gain section of the at least two gain sections have respective effective lengths that are equal. Methods for fabricating a CPM laser are also provided.
Claims21
A method comprising:
- fabricating a colliding pulse mode-locked (CPM) laser having a first gain section and a section gain section, the first gain section and the second gain section having respective effective lengths that are substantially equal such that co-propagating pulses generated within the first gain section and the section gain section, respectively, collide at a boundary between the first gain section and the second gain section to cause harmonic generation.
A colliding pulse mode-locked (CPM) laser comprising:
- an optical cavity comprising at least two gain sections, wherein a saturable absorber is disposed between adjacent gain sections of the at least two gain sections and wherein a first gain section of the at least two gain sections and a second gain section of the at least two gain sections have respective effective lengths that are substantially equal.
