Connection terminal for connecting an electrical wire

A connection terminal for connecting an electrical wire comprising:

• a housing which has an insertion opening into which the electrical wire is insertable for connection to the connection terminal;
• a contact element which is arranged on the housing and has a contact portion configured to make electrical contact with the electrical wire;
• a spring element arranged on the housing and having a clamping leg which is adjustable relative to the housing and which, in a clamping position, is configured to act upon the electrical wire so as to make contact with the contact portion and, in an open position, is remote from the contact portion relative to the clamping position;
• and
• a release element,
• wherein the clamping leg is retained in a position relative to the housing in the open position, and the release element is configured to cooperate with the electrical wire upon insertion of the electrical wire into the insertion opening so as to release the clamping leg from the open position, and
• wherein the contact element has a contacting unit configured to make contact with an associated electrical assembly, a first leg extending from the contacting unit and forming the contact leg, and a second leg extending from the contacting unit and forming a tapping portion configured to make electrical contact with a testing tool.
