Abstract
An electrode for a secondary battery may include a substrate including a conductive metal material. The substrate may include coated portions to which an active material is applied at ends of the substrate and an uncoated portion where no active material is applied and the substrate is exposed. An electrode tab is joined to the uncoated portion of the substrate. The electrode tab may include a joined portion joined to the uncoated portion of the substrate, and a protrusion portion protruding from the uncoated portion and comprising a plurality of segmented portions connected to the joined portion.
Claims20
An electrode for a secondary battery, the electrode comprising:
- a substrate comprising a conductive metal material, the substrate including (i) coated portions to which an active material is applied at ends of the substrate and (ii) an uncoated portion where no active material is applied and the substrate is exposed;
- an electrode tab joined to the uncoated portion of the substrate, wherein the electrode tab comprises:
- a joined portion joined to the uncoated portion of the substrate;
- and
- a protrusion portion protruding from the uncoated portion of the substrate and comprising a plurality of segmented portions connected to the joined portion.
An electrode for a secondary battery, the electrode comprising:
- a substrate comprising a conductive metal material, the substrate including (i) coated portions to which an active material is applied at ends of the substrate and (ii) an uncoated portion where no active material is applied and the substrate is exposed;
- an electrode tab joined to the uncoated portion of the substrate,
- wherein the electrode tab comprises:
- a joined portion joined to the uncoated portion of the substrate;
- and
- a protrusion portion protruding from the uncoated portion of the substrate and comprising at least one penetration portion.
A secondary battery comprising:
- an electrode assembly comprising a first electrode, a second electrode, and a separator positioned between the first electrode and the second electrode;
- a case accommodating the electrode assembly and comprising a bottom portion electrically connected to the second electrode, a sidewall portion connected to the bottom portion, and an upper opening facing the bottom portion;
- and
- a cap assembly joined to the case to cover the upper opening,
- wherein the first electrode comprises:
- a substrate comprising a conductive metal material, the substrate including (i) coated portions to which an active material is applied at ends of the substrate and (ii) an uncoated portion where no active material is applied and the substrate is exposed;
- an electrode tab joined to the uncoated portion,
- wherein the electrode tab comprises:
- a joined portion joined to the uncoated portion of the substrate;
- and
- a protrusion portion protruding from the uncoated portion of the substrate and electrically connected to the cap assembly, the protrusion portion comprising at least one penetration portion.
