Abstract
An enclosure of a battery pack may include a thermally conductive portion that may function as both a housing and a heat sink for a battery pack. A thermal interface pad may be provided that thermally couples the thermally conductive portion of the enclosure to one or more heat-generating electrical components and/or thermally conductive members within the enclosure, for dissipation of heat via the enclosure. The thermal interface pad may electrically isolate the one or more heat-generating electrical components from the enclosure.
Claims20
A battery pack, comprising:
- an enclosure comprising a metal housing structure;
- one or more heat-generating electrical components within the enclosure;
- a thermal interface pad on an internal surface of the metal housing structure;
- and
- a thermally conductive member that extends between the one or more heat-generating electrical components and the thermal interface pad, wherein the thermal interface pad thermally couples the thermally conductive member to the metal housing structure.
A modular electronic component assembly, comprising:
- an enclosure comprising a metal housing structure;
- one or more heat-generating electrical components within the enclosure;
- a thermal interface pad on an internal surface of the metal housing structure;
- and
- a thermally conductive member that extends between the one or more heat-generating electrical components and the thermal interface pad, wherein the thermal interface pad thermally couples the thermally conductive member to the metal housing structure.
A vehicle, comprising:
- a battery pack, comprising:
- an enclosure comprising a metal housing structure;
- one or more heat-generating electrical components within the enclosure;
- a thermal interface pad on an internal surface of the metal housing structure;
- and
- a thermally conductive member that extends between the one or more heat-generating electrical components and the thermal interface pad, wherein the thermal interface pad thermally couples the thermally conductive member to the metal housing structure.
