Abstract
A mobile power unit is provided with a number of features. The mobile power unit can include an electrical energy source (ESS) and power electronics. The ESS can be provided in a housing of the mobile power unit, and the power electronics can be disposed in a top portion of the housing above the ESS. Thermal management features are provided that can include active air management in the top portion, while minimizing environmental influences on a thermal mass of the ESS.
Claims34
An all-electric mobile power unit, comprising:
- a housing;
- an energy storage compartment disposed in the housing;
- an electrical energy source (ESS) disposed within the energy compartment of the housing, the ESS comprising a plurality of battery cells;
- an upper compartment disposed in the housing and positioned above the energy storage compartment, the upper compartment including at least one inlet vent and at least one outlet vent configured to allow air to flow into the upper compartment and exhaust air out of the upper compartment;
- and
- power electronics disposed in the upper compartment and configured to control operation of the mobile power unit.
