Abstract
A loading system for a molten salt reactor system includes a slug loading assembly. The slug loading assembly includes an inert chamber having an entry port therein that is configured to receive a solid slug. The loading system further includes a chute having a pipe run extending from the entry port and elevationally below the slug loading assembly. The loading system further includes a terminal sieve fluidically coupled with the pipe run opposite the entry port and configured to receive the solid slug via the pipe run. The terminal sieve is positionable with a flow of a liquid molten salt for dissolution of the solid slug therein.
Claims21
-23. (canceled)
A system comprising
- a fuel loading system comprising a sieve, the fuel loading system configured to introduce a fuel slug into a circulated liquid flow of molten salt and control the dissolution therein, using the sieve;
- and
- a concrete structure defining a thermal and radioactive barrier about a vessel having the circulated liquid flow,
- wherein the fuel loading system introduces said fuel slug through a passage in the concrete structure.
A system comprising
- a reactor vessel configured to circulate a liquid molten salt therethrough, and
- a fuel loading system configured to selectively release a fuel slug into the circulated liquid molten salt of the reactor vessel through multiple layers of containment, vessels, shielding and/or other barriers,
- wherein,
- the nuclear fuel is stored in a fuel storage that is physically separated from the reactor vessel, and
- the fuel loading system operates to control and support a dissolution of the fuel slug into the circulated liquid molten salt.
A system comprising
- a reactor vessel;
- and
- a fuel loading system comprising a slug loading assembly, a chute, and a terminal sieve,
- wherein,
- the terminal sieve is positionable within a liquid molten salt for dissolution of a solid fuel slug therein, and
- the liquid molten salt is a circulated flow thereof within the reactor vessel.
