Disclosed herein are system, method, and computer program product embodiments for improving image processing by detecting whether an object depicted in the image is cropped. A system generates a standardized mask from an image segmentation mask depicting an object within an image. The system modifies the image by adding a predefined number of pixels between an edge of the image and the standardized mask. The system then generates a mask edge based on the standardized mask and an eroded version of the standardized mask. The system determines the image is cropped by generating a first vector of the sum of each pixel value of each row in the image, generating a second vector of the sum of each pixel value of each column in the image, and identifying a summation in the first or second vector greater than a predefined threshold.
