Abstract
One embodiment provides a method, the method including: receiving, at a data storage device, an input instructing that data on the data storage device is to be made inaccessible; and initializing, on the data storage device, a sector mapping and relocation table, wherein the initializing includes mapping all sectors of the sector mapping and relocation table to fake data. Other aspects are claimed and described.

A method, the method comprising:
- receiving, at a data storage device, an input instructing that data on the data storage device is to be made inaccessible;
- and
- initializing, on the data storage device, a sector mapping and relocation table, wherein the initializing comprises mapping all sectors of the sector mapping and relocation table to fake data.
A system, the system comprising:
- a processor;
- a memory device that stores instructions that, when executed by the processor, causes the system to:
- receive, at a data storage device, an input instructing that data on the data storage device is to be made inaccessible;
- and
- initialize, on the data storage device, a sector mapping and relocation table, wherein the initializing comprises mapping all sectors of the sector mapping and relocation table to fake data.
