Abstract
A method and system for upgrading objects is provided. The approach comprises creating one or more fragments using an application programming interface (API); wherein each fragment comprises a fragment identifier and one or more fields. The approach further comprises generating an object by referencing the one or more fragments and storing a value associated with each field. During operations, the approach comprises upgrading the object upon encountering modified fragments wherein upgrading comprises updating the object from the first fragment to the latest. Further the approach comprises memorizing the upgrade instructions in a upgrade database.
Claims24
A computer implemented method for upgrading objects, the method comprising:
- creating one or more fragments using an application programming interface (API);
- wherein each fragment comprises a fragment identifier, one or more field definitions, a forward reference and a backward reference;
- generating an object by referencing the one or more fragments and storing a value associated with each field;
- during operations, upgrading the object upon encountering modified fragments;
- wherein upgrading comprises updating the object from one fragment to a latest fragment;
- and
- memorizing the upgrade instructions in an upgrade database.
A computer processing system comprises a processing unit;
- a communications interface;
- and a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium to store instructions, wherein the processing unit execute the stored instructions to:
- create one or more fragments using an application programming interface (API);
- wherein each fragment comprises a fragment identifier, one or more fields, a forward reference field and a backward reference field and wherein the one or more fragments together form a fragment chain, wherein the one or more fragments reference with the forward and backward reference;
- generate an object by referencing the one or more fragments and storing a value associated with each field;
- during operations, upgrade the object upon encountering modified fragments;
- wherein upgrading comprises updating the object from one fragment to a latest fragment;
- and
- memorize the upgrade instructions in a upgrade database.
A computer-readable medium comprising computer executable instructions that when executed by a processor of a computer, allows the processor to perform a method comprising:
- creating one or more fragments using an application programming interface (API);
- wherein each fragment comprises a fragment identifier, one or more fields, a forward reference field and a backward reference field and wherein the one or more fragments together form a fragment chain, wherein the one or more fragments reference with the forward and backward reference;
- generating an object by referencing the one or more fragments and storing a value associated with each field;
- during operations, upgrading the object upon encountering modified fragments;
- wherein upgrading comprises updating the object from one fragment to a latest fragment;
- and
- memorizing the upgrade instructions in a upgrade database.
