Test selection techniques

A system comprising:

• one or more processors;
• and
• one or more memories comprising code stored thereon that, when executed, performs a method comprising:
• receiving first source code changes that modify first functions, wherein the first functions are included a plurality of functions;
• cross referencing the first functions with a footprint to identify a first test set, wherein the footprint indicates which of the plurality of functions are executed by each test of a plurality of tests when said each test is executed on a plurality of platforms, wherein the first test set includes a first portion of the plurality of tests, and wherein each test of the first portion, when executed on one or more of the plurality of platforms, executes at least one function included in the first functions;
• determining a region of code based, at least in part, on the first source code changes;
• determining other source code changes that modify one or more lines of code included in the region of code;
• determining a second test set based, at least in part, on the other source code changes, where the second test set includes a second portion of the plurality of tests, and wherein each test of the second portion when executed on one or more of the plurality of platforms failed prior to making a corresponding one or more of the other source code changes;
• determining a final test set based on the first test set and the second test set;
• and
• testing the first source code changes by executing the final test set using a first version of a software product including the first source code changes.

One or more non-transitory computer readable media comprising code stored thereon that, when executed, perform a method comprising:

• receiving first source code changes that modify first functions, wherein the first functions are included a plurality of functions;
• cross referencing the first functions with a footprint to identify a first test set, wherein the footprint indicates which of the plurality of functions are executed by each test of a plurality of tests when said each test is executed on a plurality of platforms, wherein the first test set includes a first portion of the plurality of tests, and wherein each test of the first portion, when executed on one or more of the plurality of platforms, executes at least one function included in the first functions;
• determining a region of code based, at least in part, on the first source code changes;
• determining other source code changes that modify one or more lines of code included in the region of code;
• determining a second test set based, at least in part, on the other source code changes, where the second test set includes a second portion of the plurality of tests, and wherein each test of the second portion when executed on one or more of the plurality of platforms failed prior to making a corresponding one or more of the other source code changes;
• determining a final test set based on the first test set and the second test set;
• and
• testing the first source code changes by executing the final test set using a first version of a software product including the first source code changes.
