Disclosed are a control method for an approximate adder circuit based on memristor and an approximate adder device. The approximate adder circuit includes only 2n+1 memristors and one resistor. The present disclosure divides the approximate addition process of two n-bit numbers into initialization and n rounds of approximate addition sub-processes, and makes each round of the approximate addition sub-process execute a 1-bit approximate addition operation. In each round of the approximate addition sub-process, corresponding first, second, and third memristors are selected, only three steps of operations are required: setting the state of the first and second memristors and applying a voltage to each memristor and the resistor to implement the 1-bit approximate addition operation, so that the actual operation steps required for the entire approximate addition are only 2n+1 steps.
