Abstract
Some embodiments are directed to implant devices configured to be inserted into an opening in a skull of a patient. In one aspect, a cranial implant device includes an electrode array configured to be positioned on a brain surface of a patient. The electrode array includes a plurality of electrodes on a first side that is configured to be positioned on the brain surface of the patient The electrode array includes a backing layer that is adapted to reduce a space between the skull and the brain of the patient, thereby improving contact between the electrodes and the brain surface.
