Abstract
A method includes accessing, by an operating system running on the mobile device, first system communication requirements associated with running a first application on the mobile device. The method also includes sending, by the operating system, the first system communication requirements to a modulator-demodulator (modem) of the mobile device. The method further includes adjusting an operation mode of the hardware component based on the first system communication requirements and based on feedback received from the modem in response to sending the first system communication requirements to the modem.
Claims20
A method comprising an operating system running on a mobile device performing:
- accessing first system communication requirements associated with running a first application on the mobile device;
- sending the first system communication requirements to a modulator-demodulator (modem) of the mobile device;
- and
- adjusting an operation mode of the modem based on the first system communication requirements and based on feedback received from the modem in response to sending the first system communication requirements to the modem, the feedback including multiple operation modes of the modem, by:
- selecting, based on the first system communication requirements, one of the operation modes of the modem;
- and
- initiating the selected one of the operation modes of the modem.
A mobile device comprising:
- a system memory storing a set of instructions;
- and
- at least one processor coupled to the system memory, wherein the set of instructions are executable by the at least one processor to run an operating system, and wherein the operating system is configured to:
- access first system communication requirements associated with running a first application on the mobile device;
- send the first system communication requirements to a modulator-demodulator (modem) of the mobile device;
- and
- initiate adjustment of an operation mode of the modem based on the first system communication requirements and based on feedback received from the modem, the feedback including multiple operation modes of the modem, in response to sending the first system communication requirements to the modem, by being configured to:
- select, based on the first system communication requirements, one of the operation modes of the modem;
- and
- initiate the selected one of the operation modes of the modem.
Computer program instructions of an operating system, optionally stored on a non-transitory computer-readable medium, the instructions, when executed by at least one processor of a mobile device, cause the at least one processor to:
- access first system communication requirements associated with running a first application on a mobile device;
- send the first system communication requirements to a modulator-demodulator (modem) of the mobile device;
- and
- initiate adjustment of an operation mode of the modem based on the first system communication requirements and based on feedback received from the modem in response to sending the first system communication requirements to the modem, the feedback including multiple operation modes of the modem, by:
- selecting, based on the first system communication requirements, one of the operation modes of the modem;
- and
- initiating the selected one of the operation modes of the modem.
