Virtual image display apparatus and optical unit

A virtual image display apparatus, comprising:

• a light source member configured to transmit an external light in a first state and output an illumination light containing a first light in a first wavelength band in a second state;
• a display element provided to face the light source member and configured to further transmit the external light passing through the light source member in the first state, and transmit the illumination light output by the light source member to output a video light in the second state;
• and
• an imaging optical system provided to face the light source member with the display element interposed therebetween and configured to transmit at least part of the external light in the first state, and bring the video light into focus in the second state,
• wherein the light source member includes
• a first light emitter configured to emit the first light, and
• a first transmissive/reflective film provided on a side of the first light emitter that is a side opposite the display element and configured to reflect the first light and transmit the external light.
