Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a battery diagnosis apparatus and method for diagnosing or detecting a condition of a battery. A battery diagnosis apparatus according to an embodiment may include: a measuring device for measuring a first current value flowing through a charging-discharging path of a plurality of battery cells and a cell voltage value of at least one of the plurality of battery cells; and at least one processor configured to estimate a second current value flowing through a balancing resistor connected to the at least one of the plurality of battery cells based on the cell voltage value, estimate a third current value flowing through an internal short-circuit resistance of the at least one of the plurality of battery cells based on the first current value, the second current value, and a change in charge state of the at least one of the plurality of battery cells, and detect an abnormal cell among the plurality of battery cells based on the third current value of the at least one of the plurality of battery cells.
