Abstract

A computer-implemented method for estimating a capacity of an energy storage of an aerosol-generating device or a companion device configured to charge an aerosol-generating device with electrical energy is provided, the method including: collecting charging profile data of the energy storage, the charging profile data including a charging profile, selecting, in the charging profile data, a data segment of the charging profile, the data segment of the charging profile being selected so that the data segment lies next to a corner point of the charging profile; and determining an estimated capacity of the energy storage from the data segment of the charging profile.
