Abstract

A relay diagnostic circuit for diagnosing positive and negative main relays that control a connection between a battery pack and an external electrical device includes: a detection voltage source; first and second resistors connected in series between first and second connection terminals; third and fourth resistors connected in series between a first node between the first and second resistors and a negative electrode of the battery pack; fifth and sixth resistors connected in series between a second node between the third and fourth resistors and the negative electrode; a connection switch connected between the detection voltage source and a third node; a seventh resistor connected between the third node and the first node; eighth and ninth resistors connected in series between the third node and the negative electrode; and tenth and eleventh resistors connected in series between a fourth node between the eighth and ninth resistors and the negative electrode.

Dependent claims

A relay diagnostic circuit for performing diagnosis on a positive main relay and a negative main relay that control a connection between a battery pack and an external electrical device, the relay diagnostic circuit comprising:

a detection voltage source;
a first resistor and a second resistor connected in series between a first connection terminal and a second connection terminal;
a third resistor and a fourth resistor connected in series between a first node and a negative electrode of the battery pack, wherein the first node is between the first resistor and the second resistor;
a fifth resistor and a sixth resistor connected in series between a second node and the negative electrode of the battery pack, wherein the second node is between the third resistor and the fourth resistor;
a connection switch connected between the detection voltage source and a third node;
a seventh resistor connected between the third node and the first node;
an eighth resistor and a ninth resistor connected in series between the third node and the negative electrode of the battery pack;
and
a tenth resistor and an eleventh resistor connected in series between a fourth node and the negative electrode of the battery pack, wherein the fourth node is between the eighth resistor and the ninth resistor.

A battery device, comprising:

a battery pack;
and
a battery disconnect unit including a positive main relay connected between a positive electrode of the battery pack and a first connection terminal, and a negative main relay connected between a negative electrode of the battery pack and a second connection terminal,
wherein the battery disconnect unit includes:
a first resistor and a second resistor connected in series between the first connection terminal and the second connection terminal;
a third resistor and a fourth resistor connected in series between a first node and a negative electrode of the battery pack, wherein the first node is between the first resistor and the second resistor;
and
a fifth resistor and a sixth resistor connected in series between a second node and the negative electrode of the battery pack, wherein the second node is between the third resistor and the fourth resistor, and
the battery device is configured to:
measure a first detection voltage that is a voltage of a first detection node between the fifth and sixth resistors during a predetermined diagnostic period during which the battery pack is not connected to an external electrical device, and
perform a stuck closed diagnosis for the positive main relay and the negative main relay according to the first detection voltage.
