Abstract
The present invention provides rapid and sensitive methods for forensic drug testing in a post-mortem subject using oral fluid or muscle tissue and fluid associated with muscle tissue obtained from the post-mortem individual. The methods comprise obtaining oral fluid or muscle tissue from a post-mortem individual, preparing the oral fluid or muscle tissue for quantitative analysis, analyzing the oral fluid or muscle tissue to quantify the concentration of drugs in the post-mortem individual, and identifying the concentration of drugs in the post-mortem individual. Quantification of the concentration of drugs is performed using LC-MS/MS or GC/MS.
Claims20
A rapid, sensitive forensic drug testing method for quantification of drugs in a post-mortem subject using a sample of oral fluid from a post-mortem subject, comprising;
- obtaining a sample of oral fluid from a post-mortem subject;
- preparing the sample of oral fluid for quantitative analysis;
- analyzing the sample of oral fluid quantitatively to determine concentration of the one or more drugs in the post-mortem subject;
- and
- identifying the concentration of the one or more drugs in the post-mortem subject.
A rapid, sensitive method for quantification of non-naturally occurring drugs for forensic drug testing in a post-mortem subject using muscle tissue from remains of the post-mortem subject, comprising:
- obtaining a sample of muscle tissue and associated fluid from a post-mortem subject;
- preparing the muscle tissue and associated fluid for quantitative analysis;
- analyzing the muscle tissue and associated fluid quantitatively to determine the concentration of drugs in the post-mortem subject;
- and
- identifying the concentration of the one or more drugs in the post-mortem subject.
