Abstract
The present disclosure describes a diagnostic platform that combines CRISPR/Cas technology with electrochemiluminescence (ECL) or fluorescence detection for highly sensitive and specific identification of disease biomarkers, such as microRNAs and proteins, without the need for complex amplification processes.
Claims20
A system for detection of biomarkers of clinical disorders and infectious diseases, the system comprising:
- a component configured to house multiple CRISPR proteins and at least one sample;
- and
- a plate reader configured to detect fluorescence or electrochemiluminescence (ECL) from a reaction between the proteins and the at least one sample, without the need for any amplification, wherein the fluorescence or ECL is an indication of a biomarker of a clinical disorder or an infectious disease.
A method for detection of biomarkers of clinical disorders and infectious diseases, the method comprising:
- collecting a sample from a subject;
- housing the sample within a component configured to house multiple CRISPR proteins;
- performing RNA extraction to get extracted RNA from the sample;
- and
- analyzing the extracted RNA using a plate reader configured to detect fluorescence or electrochemiluminescence (ECL) from a reaction between the proteins and the sample, without the need for any amplification, wherein the fluorescence or ECL is an indication of a biomarker of a clinical disorder or an infectious disease.
