Frequency response correction of smart vibration sensors employs frequency-domain compensation of sensor acceleration measurements and a table of frequency, amplitude, and phase triplets stored in a transducer electronic data sheet representing each smart sensor's frequency response function for complex number multiplication. The table is obtained in a pre-scan calibration method using a shaker table, a swept sine wave excitation, and a very accurate reference accelerometer for comparison. To obtain the phase response information, accurate time stamps are applied to both smart sensor and reference accelerometer measurement data to permit cross-spectrum analysis during calibration of the smart sensor. Stored frequency response compensation stored in the calibrated smart sensor data sheet is applied to acquired vibration data after transformation into the frequency domain, either on board the sensor or in a host computer.
