A measuring device for a fluid medium in an environment comprising at least two electrodes, arranged in the environment and spaced from one another. The electrodes measure an electrical capacitance in the space between them. The device also has a surface acoustic wave sensor, an electrically non-conductive support layer, an antenna and an interrogator. A wireless request signal from the interrogator is transmitted the antenna to the surface acoustic wave sensor, the surface acoustic wave sensor is excited by the request signal and a response signal sent back. The response signal is evaluated in order to measure the electrical capacitance between the electrodes and from that to ascertain at least one property of the fluid medium inside the environment.
