Abstract

Methods and systems for calibrating an electronic range finding device to a specific firing device and specific projectile, wherein the range finding device comprises a display, wherein the method comprises aiming the range finding device at a first mark and adjusting a dynamically positioned indicator at a second mark, wherein the range finding device is calibrated to a specific firing device and specific projectile, whereby the range finding device provides improved aiming information. The system uses the true calibration for a specific firing device, such as a bow, crossbow, rifle, or tank, to select a ballistic group. The true ballistic group is used to estimate projectile speed, which is used to calculate a more accurate ballistic projectile trajectory. More accurate information including an aiming point and shoot-for distance when aiming uphill, downhill, or at short distance is displayed to the user.
