Briefly, the invention involves a bipod constructed to be secured to the forward portion of a firearm to provide a steady support for the firearm. The bipod is constructed of lightweight materials to include a thin outer skin of metal filled with lattice and gussets in place of solid portions; the lattice reducing weight while not sacrificing structure or rigidity. In some embodiments, the outer skin is formed from porous metal to further reduce weight. The legs of the bipod are constructed from materials such as carbon fiber, titanium or aluminum which may be foamed, porous and hollow and may include a telescoping length. The bipod is easily and quickly securable to a firearm with standard attachment constructions including Picatinny, swivel stud, M-LOK, weaver, key-mod, Versa Pod spigot mount and the like.
