Abstract
A firearm safety device, comprising: a housing; a lever; a pin; and a spring. The lever has an extended position and a retracted position and is configured to move between the two positions, and the pin has an extended position and a retracted position and is configured to move between the two positions. The pin is operatively connected to the spring and the lever such that when a magazine is removed from the firearm the pin is in an extended position the lever is in said extended position. The firearm safety device is adjacent to a grip safety of said firearm and when the pin is in said extended position it substantially prevents the grip safety from being disengaged.
Claims19
A firearm safety device, comprising:
- a housing;
- a lever;
- a pin;
- and
- a spring;
- wherein said lever has an extended position and a retracted position and is configured to move between the two positions;
- wherein said pin has an extended position and a retracted position and is configured to move between the two positions;
- wherein said pin is operatively connected to said spring and said lever such that when a magazine is removed from said firearm said pin is in said extended position said lever is in said extended position;
- wherein said firearm safety device is adjacent to a grip safety of said firearm;
- and
- wherein when said pin is in said extended position it substantially prevents said grip safety from being disengaged.
An automatic magazine disconnect handgun safety device, comprising:
- a mainspring housing;
- a lever;
- a pin;
- and
- a spring;
- wherein said lever has an extended position and a retracted position and is configured to move between the two positions;
- wherein said pin has an extended position and a retracted position and is configured to move between the two positions;
- wherein said spring is connected to and supported by said mainspring housing, such that said spring provides a biasing force to said pin to be in said extended position;
- wherein said pin is operatively connected to said spring and said lever such that when a magazine is removed from the handgun said pin is in said extended position said lever is in said extended position;
- wherein said mainspring housing is adjacent to a grip safety;
- wherein when said pin is in said extended position it substantially prevents said grip safety from being disengaged;
- and
- wherein when said magazine is loaded into the handgun, said lever is moved into said retracted position, which causes said pin to be moved into said retracted position, such that said pin allows said grip safety to be disengaged.
A handgun with a magazine disconnect safety device, comprising:
- a mainspring housing;
- and
- a handgrip safety;
- wherein said mainspring housing comprises:
- a main body;
- a lever;
- a pin;
- and
- a spring;
- wherein said mainspring housing is adjacent to a grip safety;
- and
- wherein said pin is configured to substantially prevent said grip safety from being disengaged when a magazine is removed from said handgun.
