Abstract
A refrigerator includes an ice making body including a peripheral portion configured to receive water, and a first motor configured to drive the ice-making body to separate first state ice generated on the peripheral portion. The refrigerator includes a cylinder defining a space for compressing or recombining the first state ice separated from the ice-making body, and a piston movably provided to introduce the ice in the first state into the cylinder. The refrigerator includes a second motor for driving the piston. The first motor and the second motor are configured to be driven with difference times or simultaneously.
Claims21
A refrigerator, comprising:
- a cabinet that defines a storage space;
- a door configured to open and close at least a portion of the storage space;
- an ice-making body rotatably provided at the cabinet or the door, the ice-making body having a peripheral portion configured to receive water and to generate ice;
- a first motor configured to generate driving force for rotation of the ice-making body;
- a cylinder that defines a compression space configured to compress the ice separated from the ice-making body;
- a piston configured to move relative to cylinder and to move the ice separated from the ice-making body to the compression space of the cylinder;
- and
- a second motor configured to generate driving force for movement of the piston.
A method of controlling a refrigerator, the refrigerator including a cabinet that defines a storage space, a door configured to open and close at least a portion of the storage space, an ice-making body rotatably provided at the cabinet or the door, the ice-making body having a peripheral portion configured to receive water and to generate ice, a first motor configured to generate driving force for rotation of the ice-making body, a piston configured to transfer the ice separated from the ice-making body, a second motor configured to generate driving force for movement of the piston, and a controller, the method comprising:
- driving the first motor and the second motor at different times from each other;
- or
- driving the first motor and the second motor during an overlapping time period.
