Abstract
A method of operating a heating element of a cooking appliance, the cooking appliance comprising a power supply having a first line connection, a second line connection, and a neutral line connection and an electrical switching assembly operably coupled to the heating element. The method includes receiving a command to turn off the heating element, operating the electrical switching assembly to connect the first contact terminal to the neutral line connection, determining that a predetermined amount of time has passed, and operating the electrical switching assembly to connect the first contact terminal to an open position in response to determining that the predetermined amount of time has passed.
Claims20
A heating assembly for a cooking appliance, the heating assembly comprising:
- a power supply having a first line connection, a second line connection, and a neutral line connection;
- a heating element extending between a first contact terminal and a second contact terminal;
- and
- an electrical switching assembly operably coupled to the heating element and being configured to selectively electrically couple the first contact terminal of the heating element to the first line connection, to the neutral line connection, or to an open position.
A method of operating a heating element of a cooking appliance, the cooking appliance comprising a power supply having a first line connection, a second line connection, and a neutral line connection and an electrical switching assembly operably coupled to the heating element, the method comprising:
- receiving a command to turn off the heating element;
- operating the electrical switching assembly to connect a first contact terminal of the heating element to the neutral line connection;
- determining that a predetermined amount of time has passed;
- and
- operating the electrical switching assembly to connect the first contact terminal to an open position in response to determining that the predetermined amount of time has passed.
