Swirler for a fuel nozzle assembly of a gas turbine engine

A fuel nozzle-swirler assembly for a gas turbine, the fuel nozzle-swirler assembly comprising:

• a fuel nozzle assembly including a pilot housing, a pilot swirler arranged within the pilot housing, a pilot fuel injector arranged within the pilot housing, and a plurality of main fuel injectors arranged within the pilot housing and arranged to eject fuel therefrom;
• and
• a main swirler connected to the pilot housing, the main swirler including:
• a first wall extending circumferentially about a swirler centerline axis, the first wall having a fuel nozzle aperture therethrough;
• a second wall extending circumferentially about the swirler centerline axis, the second wall having an aperture therethrough defining a fuel-air mixing chamber;
• a splitter wall extending circumferentially about the swirler centerline axis, the splitter wall including a radial wall portion, an axial wall portion, and a transition wall portion connecting the radial wall portion and the axial wall portion;
• a first plurality of radial swirl vanes extending between the first wall and the splitter wall, a first flow passage being defined between the first wall and the splitter wall, and the first plurality of radial swirl vanes being arranged to provide a first radial-tangential flow of air about the swirler centerline axis into the first flow passage;
• a second plurality of radial swirl vanes extending between the splitter wall and the second wall, a second flow passage being defined between the splitter wall and the second wall, and the second plurality of radial swirl vanes being arranged to provide a second radial-tangential flow of air about the swirler centerline axis into the second flow passage;
• and
• a plurality of vortex generating elements including at least one of (i) a first plurality of vortex generating elements arranged on the first wall extending from the first wall into the first flow passage, (ii) a second plurality of vortex generating elements arranged on the radial wall portion of the splitter wall extending from the radial wall portion of the splitter wall into the second flow passage, or (iii) a third plurality of vortex generating elements arranged on the axial wall portion of the splitter wall extending from the axial wall portion of the splitter wall into the second flow passage.
