Sealing device

A sealing device used for a rotating shaft which rotates in one direction and in another direction, the sealing device comprising:

• a reinforcement ring that is annular around a rotation axis line;
• and
• an elastic body portion that has a seal lip, is mounted on the reinforcement ring, is formed with an elastic body, and is annular around the rotation axis line, wherein
• the seal lip has a lip distal end portion as an annular portion which protrudes toward the rotation axis line,
• the lip distal end portion has a sealing-side surface as an annular surface on a sealing target object side and an atmosphere-side surface as an annular surface on an atmosphere side, the sealing-side surface and the atmosphere-side surface being connected together via a lip distal end,
• the atmosphere-side surface
• has an inhibition portion which inhibits leakage of a sealing target object to the atmosphere side even when the rotating shaft rotates in the one direction at a circumferential speed of 80 m/s, and
• has a storage portion which stores the sealing target object leaking out to the atmosphere side even when the rotating shaft rotates in the other direction at a circumferential speed of 80 m/s,
• the inhibition portion has a plurality of screw projections for returning the sealing target object, which leaks out, to the sealing target object side by a pump action when the rotating shaft rotates in the one direction, and
• the storage portion has a weir portion as a projection for blocking the sealing target object, which leaks out to the atmosphere side, when the rotating shaft rotates in the other direction.
