A monitoring system for monitoring by ion current combustion in an internal combustion engine of a vehicle, wherein the engine has at least one cylinder defining a combustion chamber and having associated therewith a first spark plug, facing the chamber, and a second spark plug, arranged at a prechamber communicating with the chamber through connecting opening(s). The system has a digital processing unit having at least one acquisition channel associated with a respective cylinder and coupled to the corresponding first and second spark plugs to receive a first and, respectively, a second ion current signal, as a function of an ion flow between respective electrodes of the first and second spark plugs. Said acquisition channel is configured to process a combined signal, resulting from a combination of said first and second ion current signals, to implement monitoring of the combustion of a fuel-air mixture in the combustion chamber.
A monitoring system, configured to monitor via ion current a combustion in an internal combustion engine of a vehicle, said internal combustion engine including at least one cylinder defining a combustion chamber and having associated therewith a first spark plug, facing the combustion chamber, and a second spark plug, arranged at a prechamber communicating with the combustion chamber through one or more connecting openings, said monitoring system comprising:
A method of monitoring via ion current the combustion in an internal combustion engine of a vehicle, said internal combustion engine including at least one cylinder defining a combustion chamber and having associated therewith a first spark plug facing the combustion chamber, and a second spark plug, arranged at a prechamber communicating with the combustion chamber through one or more connecting openings, said method comprising:
