Abstract
A camshaft includes a camshaft body including a hollow shaft and a cam lobe, and a weight shaft provided in the hollow shaft in a rotatable manner. The camshaft includes a lock mechanism provided on the camshaft body. The lock mechanism is configured to operate in a locked state where the camshaft body and the weight shaft are fixed to each other and in an unlocked state where fixation between the camshaft body and the weight shaft is released.

A camshaft comprising:
- a camshaft body comprising a hollow shaft and a cam lobe;
- a weight shaft provided in the hollow shaft in a rotatable manner and comprising a balance weight;
- and
- a lock mechanism provided on the camshaft body and configured to operate in a locked state where the camshaft body and the weight shaft are fixed to each other and in an unlocked state where fixation between the camshaft body and the weight shaft is released, wherein
- the lock mechanism is configured to operate in the locked state when a rotation speed of the camshaft body is lower than a threshold, and operate in the unlocked state when the rotation speed of the camshaft body is higher than the threshold.
