Abstract
A system and method of flushing plug catchers. The system uses fluid which has been filtered by one plug catcher to then flush out debris from another plug catcher. The system can be configured to alternate between which plug catcher is filtering and which plug catcher is being flushed.
Claims7
A method for flushing plug catchers which filter solids from the fluid of a well, the method comprising:
- providing a first plug catcher having a first inlet, a first outlet, a first flushing inlet, and a first flushing outlet;
- providing a second plug catcher having a second inlet, a second outlet, a second flushing inlet, and a second flushing outlet;
- providing a choke valve;
- providing a stream of fluid from said well;
- directing said stream of fluid such it takes either of the following paths (A) or (B):
- in path (A) the fluid:
- enters said first inlet of said first plug catcher;
- exits said first outlet of said first plug catcher;
- passes through said choke valve;
- enters said second flushing inlet of said second plug catcher;
- exits said second flushing outlet of said second plug catcher;
- or
- in path (B) the fluid:
- enters said second inlet of said second plug catcher;
- exits said second outlet of said second plug catcher;
- passes through said choke valve;
- enters said first flushing inlet of said first plug catcher;
- exits said first flushing outlet of said first plug catcher.
A method for flushing plug catchers which filter solids from the fluid of a well, the method comprising:
- providing a first plug catcher having a first inlet, a first outlet, a first flushing inlet, and a first flushing outlet;
- providing a second plug catcher having a second inlet, a second outlet, a second flushing inlet, and a second flushing outlet;
- providing a choke valve;
- providing a stream of fluid from said well;
- sending a first portion of said stream of fluid through said choke valve, into said first flushing inlet of said first plug catcher, and out said first flushing outlet of said first plug catcher;
- second a second portion of said stream of fluid through said second inlet of said second plug catcher and out said second outlet of said second plug catcher.
A method for flushing plug catchers which filter solids from the fluid of a well, the method comprising:
- providing a first plug catcher having a first inlet, a first outlet, a first flushing inlet, a first flushing outlet, and a supplemental first flushing inlet;
- providing a second plug catcher having a second inlet, a second outlet, a second flushing inlet, a second flushing outlet, and a supplemental second flushing inlet;
- providing a choke valve;
- providing a fluid holding tank and a pump for pumping fluid out of said holding tank;
- providing a stream of fluid from said well;
- directing said stream of fluid such it takes either of the following paths (A) or (B):
- in path (A) the fluid:
- enters said first inlet of said first plug catcher;
- exits said first outlet of said first plug catcher;
- passes through said choke valve;
- enters said fluid holding tank;
- enters said supplemental second flushing inlet of said second plug catcher;
- exits said second flushing outlet of said second plug catcher;
- or
- in path (B) the fluid:
- enters said second inlet of said second plug catcher;
- exits said second outlet of said second plug catcher;
- passes through said choke valve;
- enters said fluid holding tank;
- enters said supplemental first flushing inlet of said first plug catcher;
- exits said first flushing outlet of said first plug catcher.
