Hydraulic fracturing method using lightweight proppant particles to reduce erosion and improve conductivity

Abstract

A method for performing hydraulic fracturing operation via a wellbore to a subsurface formation is provided. The method comprises providing the wellbore, wherein the wellbore comprises a device having an erosion-prone feature during the hydraulic fracturing operation. The method further comprises pumping a fracturing fluid comprising lightweight proppant (LWP) particles through the wellbore and through a cluster of injection ports into the subsurface formation, thereby creating a plurality of fractures in the subsurface formation, wherein the fracturing fluid contacts the erosion-prone feature.
