Abstract
A drilling fluid is flowed through a bore of a first coiled tubing to a bottom hole assembly (BHA) comprising a drill bit and into a wellbore being drilled. A cooling fluid is flowed toward the drill bit through a second coiled tubing residing in the wellbore with the first tubing. The cooling fluid has different thermal characteristics than the drilling fluid. In certain instances, the first and second tubings are bundled. In certain instances, the drilling fluid is oil based drilling fluid and the cooling fluid is water based drilling fluid.
Claims21
A method, comprising:
- flowing a drilling fluid through a bore of a first coiled tubing to a bottom hole assembly (BHA) comprising a drill bit and into a wellbore being drilled;
- and
- flowing a cooling fluid toward the drill bit through a second tubing residing in the wellbore with the first tubing, the cooling fluid having different thermal characteristics than the drilling fluid.
A system, comprising:
- a first coiled tubing coupled to a bottom hole assembly (BHA) comprising a drill bit and comprising drilling fluid flowing through a bore of the first tubing to the BHA and out into a wellbore being drilled;
- and
- a second coiled tubing residing in the wellbore with the first coiled tubing, the second coiled tubing comprising a cooling fluid having different thermal characteristics than the drilling fluid.
