An apparatus and method for recovering debris from a wellbore. The apparatus comprises an elongate body having a first end and a second end, the first end being connectable to a string such that the apparatus is deployable into a wellbore on the string. The apparatus comprises a first inlet at the first end for receiving fluid from the string and a second inlet at the second end for receiving fluid and debris from a wellbore. The apparatus further comprises an array of outlet ports intermediate the first and second ends of the body for delivering fluid received from the string outwardly into an annulus formed between the apparatus and a wellbore in which the apparatus is deployed to urge debris within the wellbore to be directed into the second inlet, the array of outlet ports configured to induce asymmetrical flow in the wellbore.
