Abstract
A window system includes a window frame; a transparent window pane; an energy harvesting device coupled to the window frame or the transparent window frame; an output device that uses or transmits electricity; and a battery housed in the window frame, the battery being in electrical communication with the energy harvesting device and the output device.
Claims19
A power distribution system for a window having a movable window sash, the power distribution system comprising a window sash balance having an electrical input and an electrical output, the window sash balance transferring electricity therethrough, wherein one item selected from the group consisting of the electrical input and the electrical output is in communication with an electrical device on the movable window sash.
A window sash balance for use in a window having a movable window sash and a window frame, the window sash balance comprising:
- a fixed portion configured to attach to the window frame, the fixed portion comprising a first electrical contact configured to transmit or receive electricity;
- and
- a moveable portion configured to attach to the movable window sash, the moveable portion comprising a second electrical contact configured to receive electricity from or transmit electricity to an electrical device on the movable window sash;
- wherein the window sash balance passes electricity between the first electrical contact and the second electrical contact regardless of a position of the movable window sash within the window frame.
