Opening a motor vehicle door using a deployment device

A method for opening a motor vehicle door, having the following steps:

• providing an extension element for deploying a motor vehicle door, an actuator unit having an electric drive for extending the extension element, a holding structure, and an energy store in which electrical energy is stored, wherein the energy store is accessible via the extension element;
• wherein the extension element is held on the holding structure such that it can move over an extension distance between a retracted position and an extended position, and wherein the holding structure fastens the deployment device to a movable motor vehicle door or a stationary body region;
• supplying electrical energy from the energy store at least for emergency operation of the actuator unit;
• and
• extending the extension element over at least some of the extension distance, and thereby at least slightly deploying the motor vehicle door.
