Abstract
Wall blocks that twist into place, and lock onto each other internally; this allows the wall to have tensile strength between blocks, and for the wall to resist disorder and cracking caused by shock or ground movement. This also allows a wall to be constructed without the time it takes to apply mortar.
Claims11
A block or system of blocks, essentially consisting of:
- a) objects with surfaces that can be arranged to become the surface of a wall;
- and
- b) said objects supporting each other against compression force directed through the plane of the wall arrangement are recognized as blocks;
- wherein
- c) said blocks have protrusions, or lobes, or indentations, or pockets that are, once arranged to form a wall, interior to said surface of wall;
- and
- d) said protrusions, or lobes, or indentations, or pockets have geometries compelling the blocks to interlock with each other in order to arrange into a wall;
- and
- e) the geometries of said objects are such that adding more of these blocks to said wall arrangement in order to interlock requires that at least some of these added blocks can only fit into place by rotating or twisting them in.
6 more elements
A method of building a wall, consisting essentially of:
- a) rotating into place a block that cannot fit into its place in a wall by sliding it there in a linear direction only;
- b) inserting a pin or a plug into a hole that exists in that block either while it is rotating or afterward;
- so that
- c) the inserted pin or plug is transported to a place in the wall, or between blocks, that locks said block together with another block and will not come out on its own;
- thus
- d) shear force is resisted by the pin or plug if counter-rotation of the initial said block occurs;
- and
- e) additional blocks are added, at least some of which also require being similarly rotated into place.
