A fusion protein comprising a vacuolar targeting polypeptide linked to a cellulose synthase like (Csl) protein, wherein the vacuolar targeting polypeptide has an activity of localizing the fusion protein to a tonoplast.
An expression system comprising at least one expression vector comprising a first nucleic acid segment encoding a vacuolar targeting polypeptide linked in-frame with at least one second nucleic acid segment encoding a Csl protein to form a fusion protein, wherein the vacuolar targeting polypeptide has an activity of localizing the fusion protein to a tonoplast.
A method comprising growing a plant seed or plant comprising an expression system comprising a heterologous promoter operably linked to a nucleic acid segment encoding a vacuolar targeting polypeptide linked in-frame with a nucleic acid segment encoding a Csl protein to form a fusion protein, to thereby produce a mature plant.
A plant cell, plant seed, or plant comprising an expression system comprising a heterologous promoter operably linked to the first nucleic acid segment encoding a Csl protein, wherein the plant cell, plant seed, or plant is Sorghum bicolor.
A method comprising growing a plant seed or plant comprising an expression system comprising a heterologous promoter operably linked to a nucleic acid segment encoding a Csl protein to thereby produce a mature plant, wherein the plant cell, plant seed, or plant is Sorghum bicolor, to thereby produce a mature plant.
