Abstract
A method of forming nanoparticles on a substrate includes coating a substrate with a substrate coating, depositing a precursor ink comprising a polymer and one or more metal ions and/or one or more metal ion precursors onto the substrate coating to form a plurality of polymer nanoreactors comprising the one or more metal ions or the one or more metal ion precursors contained within the polymer nanoreactor, annealing the substrate having the polymer nanoreactors formed on the substrate coating to aggregate the one or more metal ions within the nanoreactor and form nanoparticles within the polymer nanoreactors; and removing the substrate coating thereby resulting in the nanoparticles formed on the substrate.
Claims18
A method of forming nanoparticles on a substrate, comprising:
- coating a substrate with a substrate coating, wherein the substrate coating is a flat, hydrophobic coating;
- depositing a precursor ink comprising a polymer and one or more metal ions and/or one or more metal ion precursors onto the substrate coating to form a plurality of polymer nanoreactors comprising the one or more metal ions and/or one or more metal ion precursors contained within the polymer nanoreactor;
- annealing the substrate having the polymer nanoreactors formed on the substrate coating to aggregate the one or more metal ions and/or one or more metal ions from the one or more metal ion precursor and form nanoparticles within the polymer nanoreactors;
- and
- removing the substrate coating thereby resulting in the nanoparticles formed on the substrate.
