Abstract
Curable coating compositions and methods of coating the surfaces of objects, such as metal objects, are described. The coating compositions can include organic and/or inorganic solid adsorbent agents and provide durable cured coating layers on metal object surfaces that can be used to adsorb select molecules, such as carbon dioxide or water.
Claims31
A curable coating composition comprising:
- (a) a solid adsorbent agent;
- (b) a liquid carrier, wherein the liquid carrier is a polar organic solvent;
- and
- (c) a curable binder comprising an epoxy resin.

A method of preparing a curable coating composition, the method comprising:
- (a) preparing a slurry comprising a solid adsorbent agent and a liquid carrier;
- (b) preparing a curable binder, wherein preparing the curable binder comprises mixing an epoxy resin with one or more of an epoxy modifier, a diamine, and an epoxy-functionalized silane;
- and
- (c) contacting the curable binder with the slurry to provide the curable coating composition.
