Retroreflective Powder Coating Composition

A retroreflective powder coating composition consisting of:

• 10-95.9 wt. % of a film-forming binder material selected from the group consisting of thermoplastic polymers, thermoset prepolymer compositions, actinic-radiation curable resin compositions and combinations thereof;
• 4-85 wt. % of spherical glass beads, wherein said spherical glass beads have a median particle diameter D50, as measured with laser diffraction, between 1 and 50 μm, and a refractive index, measured at a wavelength λ of 589 nm, between 1.9 and 2.8, wherein the spherical glass beads are not hemispherically coated with a light-reflective coating;
• 0.1-15 wt. % of pigment flakes selected from the group consisting of metallic pigment flakes, pearlescent pigment flakes and a combination thereof, said pigment flakes having a median diameter, as measured with laser diffraction, between 1 and 75 μm;
• and
• 0-15 wt. % of one or more further ingredients,
• wherein the weight percentages are based on the total weight of the composition, wherein the composition comprises particles comprising the film-forming binder material and having a median particle diameter D50, as measured with laser diffraction, between 2 and 200 m, and
• wherein the median diameter of said pigment flakes is greater than 35% of the median particle diameter D50 of said spherical glass beads.
