Abstract

In the present disclosure, the metal hydroxide particles used as a precursor of a positive electrode active material are secondary particles in which a plurality of primary particles are aggregated, the primary particles contain a transition metal element, and when the metal hydroxide particles are viewed in cross section, the metal hydroxide particles have at least a first layer X, a second layer X, a third layer X, a fourth layer X, and a fifth layer X from the outermost surface toward the center, the second layer X is a layer denser than the first layer X, the third layer X is a layer coarser than the second layer X, the fourth layer X is a layer denser than the third layer X, and the fifth layer X is a layer coarser than the fourth layer X.
