An automated or autonomous gas pump system for refueling vehicles without requiring users to exit their vehicles is disclosed. The system includes a fuel dispensing unit having a housing, a user interface assembly with a touchscreen display, manual keypad, and payment module for selecting fuel type, fuel quantity/amount, and authorizing transactions. A robotic arm housed within the unit is configured with at least four degrees of freedom to autonomously align a fuel nozzle with a vehicle's fuel inlet. The robotic arm includes integrated sensors such as proximity, torque, and pressure sensors for precise engagement and safety control. A flexible hose connects the fuel nozzle to an internal fuel delivery system fed by underground or above-ground storage tanks. The system features an illumination unit for visibility and status indication, a unique identifier for pump tracking, and a service door for maintenance.
