Abstract

The invention relates to an automated storage system (1) and a method forstoring and retrieving containers (5) in such a storage system. For this purpose, the storage system (1) is equipped with at least one rack (2a, 2b), arranged parallel to an aisle (3) comprising at least one level with a plurality of channels (4) arranged transversely to the aisle (3), as well as at least one aisle vehicle (6) that can move within the aisle (3) and a control unit for the autonomous movement of at least one aisle vehicle (6). The channels (4) are inclined relative to the horizontal in such a way that the end of each channel (4) facing the aisle (3) lies vertically below the end of the respective channel (4) facing away from the aisle (3). According to the invention, the aisle vehicle (6) comprises a shuttle vehicle (7) that is designed and configured to store containers (5) into the channels (4) by moving relative to the aisle vehicle (6) and transversely to the aisle (3) into the channels (4).
