Abstract
A storage system is described comprising a series of fire detection, suppression and extinguishing means. Furthermore, the system comprises containers formed as structural composites. The containers comprise multiple portions of a structural or storage nature. The system further comprises means for using the containers and the system itself in order to reduce the likelihood of fire spreading through large grid based systems.
Claims20
A storage container for a grid-based automated storage and retrieval system, the storage container comprising:
- a frame;
- and
- a load-bearing storage portion supported by the frame.
An automated storage and retrieval system comprising:
- a framework structure including a first set of parallel rails and a second set of parallel rails extending transversely to the first set of parallel rails to form a grid defining a plurality of vertical storage locations;
- one or more load-handling devices movable on the rails and configured to lift a storage container from above;
- and
- a plurality of storage containers located in the vertical storage locations, the storage containers comprising pressed sheet metal.
