Abstract

A retainer assembly includes a retainer bracket including a base on a first plane and at least one arm projecting therefrom. The at least one arm extends in a second plane perpendicular to the first plane. An attachment mechanism is removably and rotatably coupled with the at least one arm and has a longitudinal axis when extended. The attachment mechanism is rotatable relative to the at least one arm between a first position, in which the longitudinal axis of the attachment mechanism extends in a first direction and is parallel with the first and second planes, and a second position, in which the longitudinal axis extends in a second direction opposite the first direction and is parallel with the first and second planes. The retainer bracket can withstand forces exceeding 6000 lbs applied in either the first or second direction when the retainer bracket is coupled with the container.

Dependent claims

A retainer assembly for use with a container, the retainer assembly comprising:

a retainer bracket comprising:
a base lying on a first plane;
at least one arm projecting from the base, wherein the at least one arm extends in a second plane perpendicular to the first plane;
and
an attachment mechanism removably and rotatably coupled with the at least one arm of the retainer bracket, the attachment mechanism having a longitudinal axis when extended,
wherein the attachment mechanism is rotatable relative to the at least one arm between a first position, in which the longitudinal axis of the attachment mechanism extends in a first direction and is parallel with both the first plane and the second plane, and a second position, in which the longitudinal axis of the attachment mechanism extends in a second direction opposite the first direction and is parallel with both the first plane and the second plane;
wherein the retainer bracket can withstand a force exceeding 6000 lbs applied in either of the first direction or the second direction when the retainer bracket is coupled with the container.

a container, comprising:
a plurality of walls, including a first side wall, a second side wall, a rear wall, and a bottom wall;
and
a container door pivotably attached to the first side wall so that the container door is pivotable between an open position, at which the door is parallel with the first side wall, and a closed position, at which the door is perpendicular to the first side wall and disposed in facing opposition to the rear wall;
a first retainer bracket positioned on the first side wall;
a second retainer bracket positioned on the second side wall;
and
a retainer assembly comprising:
a third retainer bracket comprising:
a base lying on a first plane;
at least one arm projecting from the base, wherein the at least one arm extends in a second plane perpendicular to the first plane;

a chain removably and rotatably coupled with the at least one arm of the third retainer bracket at an attachment point,
wherein when the door is in the open position, the chain can extend in a substantially straight line from the attachment point to the first retainer bracket, wherein when the door is in the closed position, the chain can extend in a substantially straight line from the attachment point to the second retainer bracket.
