This invention relates to the method of configuring a solar panel system on the foredeck of a sailing vessel using a telescoping frame for permanent or temporary attachment to the vessel. The invention relates to significantly improved solar energy capture by substantially increasing energy absorption area compared to existing designs for more efficient recharging of batteries. The solar panel arrangement uses a telescoping base for quick storage and deployment of the photovoltaic panels on the foredeck while underway or static. The telescoping frame can be adjusted to a multitude of deck geometries with modular design for various panel lengths and using adjustable feet. Base feet can be permanent for stability while sailing or motoring. The telescoping system can use folding, sliding, or quick attach solar panels. Application of this invention can also be configured on motor vehicles, travel trailers or similar.
