A system for preserving fluid in a fluid source on a towing member of a combination vehicle following disconnection between the towing member and a towed member includes a control valve defining a supply port in communication with the fluid source and a delivery port in communication with a supply conduit that extends between the towing and towed members. A first trim element in the control valve moves, responsive to a differential pressure between fluid pressures at the supply and delivery ports, from an open position allowing delivery of fluid from the supply port to the delivery port to a closed position prohibiting fluid delivery. A second trim element in the control valve or a separate inversion valve reduces fluid pressure at the delivery port following the disconnection to cause movement of the first trim element from the open position to the closed position.
